Gameplay Engineer Feb. 2023 – Sept. 2023

❋ Project Description

This game is inspired by “Overcooked” series and made in my senior year. I was trying to learn how they achieved similar mechanics, so I searched, studied, iterated my game. Due to the limited time, I pause the game development, and it has a stable version now, but can be extended in the future if time allows.

❋ Contributions

This game was solo developed, all parts except from art and music were all done by me. Here are some aspects I want to highlight:

  • Gameplay Engineer: Simulated intuitive cooking mechanics in “Overcooked”, including 2D player movement, counter interaction, ingredient processing, and dish management. Independently programmed the game’s core loop, including the integration of recipes as Scriptable Objects, dynamic prefab initialization, and random generation of orders.
  • UI Engineer: Deployed a user-friendly interface featuring easily accessible recipes, scores and timers, significantly enhancing the player’s gaming experience.
  • Solo Development: Completed the whole game independently using online assets, This project showcased exceptional self-motivation and project management skills, highlighting the ability to deliver a complete gaming experience from concept to execution.
